THYNK at Home
We combined the knowledge of 180+ conversations we held, so you can have a THYNK-like conversation at home, whether you want to get to know people better, or relive one of our old events. To the app
There once was a birthday, where a group of eight people—from all kinds of backgrounds and nationalities—sit together and share one thing they all had in common: a never-ending curiosity that bred their love for philosophical conversations. It turned out to be impactful when the talks about the meaning of life, free will, the future of politics, and many more inspired them to form a new community. They called it... Filosofest
Alvaro and Jens, who then had been settling in Tilburg for a year, had always been looking for new places to meet people. Clubs and bars, guest lectures, and networking events, all of them fell into the pair's grasp. Unfortunately, they either ended up in small talks or sales contests. It was then that a question popped up in their head: "Why isn't there a place where you can meet people and have real conversations?"
Apparently, they were not the only ones to share that thought. That was why their first open event was sold out in a couple of days. People in Tilburg and beyond came together to meet new people, share stories, and engage in philosophical conversations. Then more followed the first event, every event resulted in having these mind-blowing conversations. We started to have a very diverse group of people attending: people as young as 16 years old, to 70+; from native Dutch to foreigners from Albania, Bulgaria, the USA, and many more. They spanned across a vast background, from AI, business, to philosophy, or medical. But after all, we realized that the one magic which enabled these events was a true sense of open-mindedness among participants.
With this outstanding growth, we came to the decision that we wanted to go in a different direction. Filosofest is not a place where you meet like-minded people to talk about philosophy anymore. No, it is a place where people from all backgrounds come together and share their perspectives, then get a better understanding of each other and learn from them. Along with this change, we decide to choose a new name for us, Thynk.
